In a clip that's quickly gone viral, a Hogwarts Legacy streamer was brought to tears after facing harassment from their Twitch chat for playing the game. Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most divisive video game releases in recent memory, with J.K. Rowling's transphobic comments shrouding the game in controversy.

While J.K. Rowling had nothing to do with Hogwarts Legacy's development, there are those who still think the game should be boycotted as a means to protest her transphobic views. Some have gone as far as to say that buying Hogwarts Legacy is the same as outright supporting Rowling's transphobia. Understandably, this has caused a lot of drama online, with lines being drawn between those who want to play Hogwarts Legacy and those who think the game should be boycotted.

Despite the controversy, there's no denying that Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest new game releases of the year. Hogwarts Legacy reviews have been mostly positive as well, drumming up even more hype for the open world Harry Potter game. Considering this, it's no surprise that Twitch streamers have been streaming the game, but some of those streamers have been subject to harassment from angry viewers in their Twitch chat. This includes Shelby of Girlfriend Reviews, who was brought to tears because of the continued harassment from her Twitch chat.

Girlfriend Reviews is the duo of Matt and Shelby, a couple primarily known for their YouTube content. The two were streaming Hogwarts Legacy together on Twitch, but the chat quickly became toxic, with people berating the streamers by calling them bigots for playing the game and fighting with other viewers. According to Reddit user Bittucharya, who uploaded a clip of the incident, Girlfriend Reviews changed the chat to sub-only when the hate comments started, but then people started subscribing just to continue the harassment. Eventually, Shelby had to step away from the stream entirely.

It's clear that Twitch is going to have an awkward relationship with Hogwarts Legacy, to say the least. Some Twitch streamers have even called for a boycott of the streaming giant itself in response to advertisements promoting the Hogwarts Legacy game, whereas other streamers are streaming it without caring about the potential harassment from viewers. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see how many Twitch streamers decide to stream Hogwarts Legacy despite the controversy surrounding the game, and how many decide to pass on it despite its potential to get them significant views.

Hogwarts Legacy launches February 10 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X, April 4 for PS4 and 绝地求生最近赛事安排, and July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
